A cat cafe is a café that allows cats to roam around and interact with customers. The first cat cafés opened in Taiwan in 1998 and have since spread to other parts of the world, including the United States. Cat cafes are popular for their relaxing atmosphere and because they provide a space where cat lovers can enjoy being surrounded by felines without having to worry about taking care of them.

In Japanese culture, cats represent prosperity and happiness which is why when someone gets a new purr-sonal furry companion there are always lots of friends (and sometimes even relatives) who want to come to visit too.
